Cedrus libani

Cedrus libani

Cedar of Lebanon

Planted in 1917

Source: Barbier Nursery, France

This tree is the national emblem of Lebanon and has a prominent place on both the Lebanese flag and its coat of arms. It has long been a popular horticultural tree and at the time that the Park area was being established, the Cedar of Lebanon was a tree associated with grand estates and public gardens in Europe, Britain and the eastern United States. We have three specimens dating back to 1917-1918.
